3.    How do I volunteer for the Foundation? For the Children’s Hospital?

To volunteer at the Foundation: call the Foundation office 403-955-8818 and ask to speak to the volunteer coordinator. Or visit our website at http://www.childrenshospital.ab.ca/.

To volunteer at Alberta Children's Hospital call the main switch board at 403-955-8871 and ask to speak with the volunteer coordinator.

4.    How do I make a monetary donation?

You can make a donation in a number of different ways:

a)    Online -- Visa, Master Card or American Express is accepted

b)    Through the mail: Cheque, money order or cash:

c)    Over the phone using your credit card: Call (403) 955-8818.

d)    In Person by visiting the Foundation during office hours:
      8:30am-4:30pm Monday-Friday.

e) or you may drop off your donation at either of our donation boxes located here at the Alberta Children's Hospital. One is located by admitting and the other is just outside the Foundation doors on the 2nd floor.

5.    Funding for staff training?

Funding for staff training is overseen by Lois Ward- Director Child and Women’s Health.  Please contact Barb Fox, her Assistant at:
(403) 955-2240.

6.    Does the Foundation accept used toys?

The foundation only accepts newly bought items. Due to tighter infection control practices and because of children with compromised immune systems, the Foundation will not accept used items for the hospital.

7.    Does the Foundation accept VCR tapes?

No, when we moved to the new site we upgraded to DVD players.

8.    Can we donate a car to the Foundation?

Unfortunately, the Foundation does not accept car donations.  To donate your car, please contact the Kidney Foundation of Canada at:
(403) 279-7707.

9.    Do you accept donations of furniture -- sofas, rocking chairs?

We do not accept used furniture.  Rocking chairs are evaluated on a case by case basis if there is a need for one.  For more information please contact the Foundation office at (403) 955-8818.

10.    Does the Foundation accept donations of TVs?

Televisions that are brand new are accepted if there is a need for them.  It may be possible to receive a Tax receipt if the donor can provide the original receipt.

12.    Can we drop off donations at Admitting?

Donations can be dropped off at main admitting outside of the Foundation’s office hours (8:30 am-4:30 pm Monday-Friday), provided the items are newly purchased.

13.    What if I am donating several heavy boxes, where can I drop them off and what are shipping’s hours?

Please contact the Foundation office prior to dropping large items off, as storage space is limited.  Shipping and receiving hours are 8:00 am-4:00 pm Monday-Friday.  Heavier items can be brought to shipping bay #3 at the rear of the Hospital.

14.    Where are your cash donation boxes located?

There is one donation box located on the main level, by the LCD screen and another located adjacent from the Foundation office.

15.    Is there free parking while I make my donation?
 
If you are parked for less than 15 minutes, you will not be charged. The Alberta Children's Hospital is located at 2888 Shaganappi Trail NW. It is on the western side of the University of Calgary's campus.  There is a parkade marked “Visitor Parking.”

16.    Where are we located in the hospital?

The Foundation office is located on the 2nd floor of the Alberta Children's Hospital. When you come in the main entrance, take staircase located to your right as you enter the Main Gathering Space, and we are located at the top of that staircase to your right.

17.    Can we bring our toy donations into the units to give to the kids?

Unfortunately not, due to the privacy of the patients and to limit the exposure of illness to children with compromised immune systems.

18.    Do we have a “wish list” of toys we are looking for?

Yes, there is a wish list for each unit/department in the Hospital.  Please call the Foundation office at (403) 955-8818 to obtain a copy of the list.
