*An update on Gifts in Kind

Thank you for thinking of the children at the hospital! Our amazing community has been incredibly generous in recent weeks and our shelves are well-stocked with toys, books and thoughtful items for children and families at the hospital. To minimize the risk of exposure to young patients, families and care providers, all non-essential foot traffic into the hospital should be minimized. Therefore, we are pausing all gift-in-kind donations until further notice. If you would like to be informed when we begin accepting gift-in-kind donations again, please email Utah at: uhawley@achf.com.

 Gifts in Kind

Thank you for your generosity in donating new toys, books and other gifts to kids at the Alberta Children's Hospital!

These gifts make kids feel more at home and help brighten their stay in the hospital. They are used throughout the year as distractions and rewards during procedures and tests; as special gifts to celebrate birthdays, holidays and other milestones; as prizes for bingo nights and to provide entertainment in playrooms. Book donations also help supplement the Family and Community Resource Centre library collection and inpatient book cart program.

We are only able to accept NEW unwrapped items due to the hospital's infection control guidelines. Our patients have fragile immune systems, and therefore we are unable to accept gently used or previously owned items. For the safety and privacy of our patients, please understand that donors are not permitted to hand out gifts personally to the patients.

Guidelines and wish lists

See our wish lists below for items that are currently needed at the hospital and please be sure to follow the guidelines included.

Art

The Alberta Children's Hospital Foundation supports the Alberta Children's Hospital Art Advisory Committee. As a panel of art specialists, this committee meets bi-monthly to review all artwork donation submissions. This committee is solely responsible for deciding where art will be placed within the hospital.

Each work will be chosen on its own merit. All artwork must be original, must be sensitive to the distress families may be feeling at the hospital and recognize cultural differences of those visiting the hospital. Signage on the back of the artwork is acceptable, however no plaques or labelling is permitted on the front of the artwork. At this time we do not accept murals due to concerns with infection control.

If you have a piece of art you would like to be considered, please complete the artwork donation form. If you require a tax receipt for your donation, a professional, third-party appraisal must be completed and submitted with your artwork donation form. For more information about donating artwork, please contact the Art Committee at artdonations@achf.com.
