Our experts in pediatric neurosciences, psychology and psychiatry devote their lives to all aspects of brain health. They understand that a child’s brain – still in the stages of construction - has a greater ability to repair itself than the fully formed brain of an adult. As a result, our specialists are committed both to minimizing the impact of brain injury and disease as well as maximizing the young brain’s ability to rewire, adapt and re-construct itself.

Life Saving Care
The Alberta Children’s Hospital serves more than a half a million children from across Alberta, southwestern Saskatchewan and southeastern BC – all relying on our experts to have the skills and technology to care for them if and when their health fails.

Each year, over 800 children are admitted to our hospital with life-threatening illnesses or injuries - often so severe they require second-by-second care in the fight to keep them alive within the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU). During those critical moments, timely access to crucial tools and technology can mean the difference between life and death.
