The vast majority of diseases have their origins very early on in life. Whether it be genetic, in-utero, or in early childhood, the first months and years of life are critical for lifelong health. As a child-health researcher myself, I have come to appreciate the complexity and challenges that we face moving forward. Addressing these questions takes amazing people working long hours, who are passionate about finding solutions to problems, whether that is identifying a rare mutation, or deciding the best course of action for a sick child. RideYYC is about appreciating the complexity, of the city, and the people in it through the lens of a cyclist exploring the city. This appreciation for the details, nuances, and the people around you is also what makes research and clinical practice at the Alberta Children's Hospital some of the best in the world. Please consider donating to this cause, and help the next generation of Calgarians reach their potential.
