I am fortunate to have a healthy child, and we haven't needed the Alberta Children's Hospital for more than tummy troubles, a couple of earaches, a broken wrist and a few concussions. But, even the less serious of these issues were difficult for me as a parent, because it was my baby who was suffering!
Every day, hundreds of children and their familes rely on the wonderful facilty we are blessed to have in our city. This week, February 6th - 8th, Country 105 is working together with wonderful hospital staff, Foundation staff, and volunteers in the 16th annual Radiothon. They will be raising funds to help buy special equipment and fund the important services that keep our hospital at the forefront of service for our kids.
Maybe you are a parent, maybe not. Maybe you are blessed with nieces and nephews. Or, maybe you have watched your own children grow and now have grandchildren. Whatever the case, chances are you, or someone you know, has used the services of that bright and colourful building on Shaganappi.
Today, I am asking for your help. I am a "Miracle Maker" who has listened to Radiothon for years, and cried many tears. I have volunteered several years, as well. This year, in addition to my volunteer day, I have decided to also collect money. My goal is only $500. Together, we can make great things happen. Some fantastic news we learned at last week's volunteer rally is that a most generous ACH supporter has pledged to match all donations up to an incredible $2,000,000! I know times are tough in Calgary, in Alberta, in the oil-patch - but this year, your donation really does go further. Your $1 = $2 for the kids!
Think about it - it is like an insurance policy protecting our future.
*** AMAZING NEWS THIS MORNING ***Another supporter has stepped up and your donation will now be TRIPLED!!
