There are currently 2,000,000+ cases of COVID-19 confirmed worldwide, and 2,000+ cases confirmed in Alberta as of April 15, 2020.
This pandemic has brought people together closer than ever (while following social distancing rules, of course). Communities are united in order to push through this time of crisis together as well as to help the ones in need. That’s why we need your help - to show our appreciation to our healthcare workers as well as to provide resources needed to prevent future reoccurrence of a pandemic like this.
Thankfully, COVID-19 has a low infection rate for children, although the death rate from COVID-19 in children is low, “very little research has been published on COVID-19 infection in children. [That’s why] healthcare professionals need information now.” - Dr. Stephen Freedman, a professor in the departments of Paediatrics and Emergency Medicine at the Cumming School of Medicine. (More information can be found one Alberta Children’s Hospital Foundation’s website, under research in action).
We'd like to focus on improving people's mental health during quarantine, that's why we hold weekly lessons and talent shows to provide entertainment!
This fundraiser was created for two main reasons:
1. To provide funding to help with the research to combat COVID-19, and to see its impact of children and teens.
2. To help with ACH’s Build Them Up program - a care centre designed to help with child & adolescent mental health. Mental health is an important factor contributing to a child’s growth, especially during a time like this, with the strict social distancing rules.
All the donations will go to Alberta Children’s Hospital Foundation, tax receipts are issued automatically for personal online donations. Your support through these unprecedented times is greatly appreciated by COVID-9teen and the Alberta Children's Hospital Foundation!
Who are we?
COVID-9teen was founded by Jing Hu, a Grade 12 Student from Calgary. She united teens across Canada with the mindset of helping others to get through these unprecedented times; that's why we are doing this through ACH's Kids Helping Kids program. With the help from talented teenagers throughout Calgary and across Canada, a social media platform was created to showcase talents to create entertainment as well as to showcase their talent. If you are unable to donate, please feel free to check out our page on Instagram @covid.9.teen and our page on Facebook @covid.teen for more information!
