Hockey Marathon for the Kids

Hockey Marathon for the Kids

The Hockey Marathon for the Kids is back to help children with cancer. Forty players will hit the ice April 5 to 16 at the Chestermere Recreation Centre to challenge the Guinness World Record for the longest hockey game ever played.

Organizers have successfully set the world record three times, in 2012, 2014 and 2022, while raising close to $4 million in total for the Alberta Children’s Hospital Foundation. This time, players will have to skate for more than 262 consecutive hours to clinch the record.

Despite critical advancements, all children who are diagnosed with cancer suffer to some degree, and 20% will not survive their disease. Clinical trials and novel therapies are important stepping stones to improving outcomes. All money raised through Hockey Marathon for the Kids will support an initiative that will increase clinical trial capacity, so more families in our community can access the latest advancements in cancer medicine.
