Even the smallest hands can make the biggest difference, and that’s what the Kids Helping Kids program is all about.

Recognizing the number of thoughtful young people who want to help other kids in their community, the Alberta Children’s Hospital Foundation launched the Kids Helping Kids program in 2008 to provide guidance and resources to support their creativity – and to recognize their incredible generosity.

Since then, the program has grown tremendously. In 2023/24, these amazing kids collectively raised more than $477,000 one lemonade stand, bake sale or birthday party at a time – bringing the Kids Helping Kids fundraising grand total to nearly $6 million!

You can support these budding philanthropists by becoming a sponsor or a matching donor of the Kids Helping Kids program or one of its many initiatives. Together, we can stand with our community’s youth who give so selflessly to help others.

Youth Council: September to June

The Youth Council is comprised of high school and university students who work closely under the guidance of the Alberta Children’s Hospital Foundation to support, advocate, fundraise, and organize as young ambassadors in the community in support of mental health programs. Members learn valuable leadership and management skills and make a difference.

School or Sport Team Fundraiser: September to June

Whether it’s a run, a bike-a-thon or a bottle drive, hosting a school or team fundraiser is a great way to introduce the spirit of Kids Helping Kids into the classroom or on the courts! Every year, hundreds of students and athletes find fun and creative ways to support the Alberta Children’s Hospital Foundation by rallying their classmates and teammates to help.

Matching donor or sponsor opportunity available, with potential to attend one or two events, address the students/athletes and organize a celebratory pizza party.

Hockey Kids Helping Kids: November to December

In keeping with Hockey Calgary’s core values of teamwork and respect, Hockey Kids Helping Kids is every team’s chance to support the 100,000 kids and families who rely on the Alberta Children’s Hospital. The program invites all minor hockey teams in Calgary to lace up and get involved.

Junior Golf Classic: June

Young golfers can play a 9-hole shotgun at Silver Springs Golf & Country Club, stock up on some treats and goodies from community sponsors and take part in a wonderful BBQ lunch when they register for this much-loved event, which also lets them fundraise with their very own online fundraising page.

Presenting sponsorship available ($10,000) with associated recognition and potential to volunteer at a hole.

Kids Helping Kids Celebration: September

This annual celebration is an opportunity to recognize all these amazing young fundraisers by inviting their families to Calaway Park for a BBQ lunch, treats, a full day of rides, and more. Awards are given to recognize top fundraisers and inspiring kids.

Matching donor or sponsor opportunities available for the entire Kids Helping Kids program, with potential to speak and volunteer at the event. Presenting sponsorship available with associated recognition.

Birthday Hero Program

Our Birthday Heroes celebrate their big days in a way that supports kids in our community. Birthday Heroes enlist friends and families to donate in lieu of birthday presents, making a difference in the lives of kids at the hospital — and that’s the best gift imaginable.

Matching donor or sponsor opportunity available.

Toy Drive

New toys, books or crafts can brighten a child’s stay and make them feel more at home while in hospital. Many kids in our community organize toy drives around the holidays, and you can get involved!

Sponsors & Matching Donors

Sponsorship or matching donor benefits include logo and name recognition in all program communications, including signage, social media, and email communications as well as a potential interactive opportunity for you or your employees.
