Your gifts can brighten a child’s stay. Whether it’s a new toy, books or crafts, these special gifts go a long way to making a child feel more at home while in hospital.

Please understand that for reasons of safety and privacy, donors cannot deliver gifts personally to patients. The Toy & Gift Fund

This special fund supports items that promote healing throughout the year. These include toys, games, art and craft supplies, play equipment and other activities used by Child Life specialists in patient care programs and playrooms, both in therapeutic play and just for fun.

Online: Gifts can be made online. Please be sure to enter ‘Toy & Gift Fund’ in the comments field.

Mail: You can send a cheque payable to the Alberta Children’s Hospital Foundation. Be sure to include ‘Toy & Gift Fund’ in the memo line, and send to the address below:

Gift Cards

Gift cards make wonderful presents, especially for teens. They can also help the Child Life team purchase items that facilitate play and art-based therapies, events and programs while kids are in the hospital. Suggested gift cards include Walmart, Indigo, Amazon, Apple, Google, shopping malls and toy stores. Gift cards for family members are also appreciated, particularly for Save-On Foods, Walmart, as well as gas stations and coffee shops. You can mail gift cards directly to the Foundation:

Auction and Prize Donations

The Foundation is fortunate to benefit from several exciting events throughout the year, many with an auction or prizing component. We are always looking for unique items, services or experiences to feature in one or more of these prestigious events. Art

If you have a piece of art you would like to donate to the hospital, please complete this artwork donation form. If you require a tax receipt for your donation, a professional, third-party appraisal must be completed and submitted with your artwork donation form. For more information about donating artwork, please email us.

Please note: The Alberta Children’s Hospital Art Advisory Committee is responsible for considering all artwork donations and deciding where art will be placed within the hospital. Artworks must be sensitive to the distress families may be feeling at the hospital and recognize cultural differences of those visiting. Signage on the back of the artwork is acceptable, however plaques or labelling are not permitted on the front of the artwork. At this time, we cannot accept murals due to concerns with infection control.

Food and Treats

While very appreciative of the thought, hospital staff and volunteers are unable to accept donated food products, dietary supplements or beverages, whether commercially prepared or home-made. This includes unopened food such as candy, baked goods, and food meant for display such as gingerbread houses.
