Caring for Kids Radiothon Raises $2.25 million

19–year total surpasses $40 million for the Alberta Children’s Hospital!

For the 19th year in a row, supporters of the Country 105 Caring For Kids Radiothon stepped up with incredible generosity to help children and families at the Alberta Children’s Hospital.

In celebration of the fact that the hospital turns 100 years old this year, long-time radiothon donor and local philanthropist, Tom Crist, provided five extra incentive gifts of $100,000 throughout the three-day event. That boosted the generosity of radiothon supporters to an astounding $2.25-million final tally, making the overall Radiothon total more than $40.25 million since 2003!

“We are so grateful that even in these tough times, literally thousands of kind-hearted compassionate people showed their support for kids and families by donating to our hospital,” says Saifa Koonar, President & CEO of the Alberta Children’s Hospital Foundation. “Through Radiothon, they are making a very real difference – changing the kind of care children are able to receive here in Calgary.”

Over the past three days, dozens of grateful families lined up – virtually – to share how much they appreciate the care they’ve received from the Alberta Children’s Hospital and highlighted in very real terms how donations help save and change lives at the hospital every day.

“Country 105’s Caring for Kids Radiothon is an incredible example of our community coming together to improve the lives of children living with urgent medical needs,” says Greg Johnson, Program Manager, Country 105 FM. “For the past 19 years, we have shared powerful stories of healing and hope, and thanks to our generous listeners, we continue to raise life-saving funds to support children’s health and the selfless work of the Alberta Children’s Hospital.”

The official phone bank sponsor of this year’s event – for the twelfth year in a row – was Brookfield Residential.
