Caring for Kids Radiothon Raises $2.45 million!

22–year total surpasses $47.5 million for the Alberta Children’s Hospital

For 22 incredible years, supporters of the Country 105 Caring For Kids Radiothon have come together with incredible generosity to help children and families at the Alberta Children’s Hospital.

Thanks to generous Radiothon listeners, sponsors and long-time Radiothon donor and local philanthropist Tom Crist providing five extra incentive gifts of $100,000 throughout the three-day event, this year’s Radiothon raised an astounding $2.45 million, bringing the overall raised since 2003 to more than $47.7 million!

“Radiothon is our most beloved event. It is when we share with our community a snapshot into the incredible world-class care that takes place within the Alberta Children’s Hospital every day, from those at the heart of the hospital – the kids and families themselves,” says Saifa Koonar, President and CEO of the Alberta Children’s Hospital Foundation. “We get to see all that love reflected in every grateful parent, grandparent, and child who has experienced firsthand the life-saving, life-changing difference our generous community has made possible for their family.”

Over the past three days, dozens of grateful families sat down with radio hosts from Country 105 on-site at the Alberta Children’s Hospital to share their story, while highlighting the incredible impact community support has on helping save and change lives there every day.

“Radiothon is a truly special time for us – it’s a reminder of just how big our community’s heart is,” says Greg Johnson, Program Director, Country105. “Every year, we are overwhelmed by the generosity of our listeners who step up in such a big way to support families and caregivers at the hospital. We’re beyond grateful to be part of this event and to witness the power of giving firsthand.”
