Children’s Hospital Lottery supports
life-changing technology
The Children’s Hospital Lottery is back with $2.1 million in prizes to support ground-breaking technology that is opening new doors for kids with severe mobility and communication limitations.
This year’s Children’s Hospital Lottery will fund the purchase of Brain-Computer Interface (BCI) technology at the Alberta Children’s Hospital. BCI allows kids with severe mobility and communication limitations the ability to interact with their world using the power of their minds. Wearing a special headset, they are learning how to control devices to do things their bodies cannot, such as turn on toys, play games with their families and even create artwork.
“We are grateful to the Kinsmen Club of the Stampede City and lottery supporters for helping make world-class care possible at the Alberta Children’s Hospital for over three decades,” says Liz Ballendine, VP Development, Alberta Children’s Hospital Foundation. “And we are so thrilled this year’s lottery will support BCI technology that is changing lives and opening up new opportunities for children their parents never dreamed possible.”
For over 30 years, the lottery has supported many ground-breaking initiatives that have helped the Alberta Children’s Hospital become a national and international leader in child healthcare and research. One ticket at a time, lottery supporters have funded state-of-the-art equipment like a DNA sequencer and 3T MRI machine, provided financial relief for families in economic crisis, supported mental health programs and services, and even helped build the hospital itself.
The President of the Kinsmen Club of the Stampede City, Sean Parlee, says: “Albertans should feel proud that we are working together to create a healthier future for our children. By purchasing a ticket to the Children’s Hospital Lottery, you will continue to support more than 100,000 children who rely on the Alberta Children’s Hospital annually. I want to thank our generous community for your long-lasting support, which has helped expand access to state-of-the-art care and research at the Alberta Children’s Hospital.”
The 2023 Lottery offers more than 900 prizes valued at over $2.1 million, including the Grand Prize, a fully furnished and decorated, fully landscaped, dream home in Aspen Spring Estates at Springbank Hill. The $1.29 million, 3,200 sq. ft. dream home, built by Homes by Avi, features five bedrooms, four bathrooms, nine-foot ceilings, an oversized double garage, walk-in closets, upper floor laundry and a fully developed basement. The winner will also receive $100,000 cash and a $10,000 Barbecues Galore gift card.
