Country 105 Caring for Kids Radiothon Raises $2.86 Million!

Twenty-year total surpasses $43 million for the Alberta Children’s Hospital!

For 20 incredible years, supporters of the Country 105 Caring For Kids Radiothon have stepped up with incredible generosity to help children and families at the Alberta Children’s Hospital.

To help celebrate the event’s 20-year milestone, long-time Radiothon donor and Calgary philanthropist, Tom Crist, matched every donation up to $1 million. That boosted the generosity of Radiothon supporters to an astounding $2.87 million final tally, making the overall Radiothon total more than $43 million since 2003!

“We are so grateful to the hundreds of people – hundreds of Country 105 listeners – who have literally been part of Radiothon since day one,” says Saifa Koonar, President & CEO, Alberta Children’s Hospital Foundation. “They called in with their gifts back in 2003 and are still donating today! We’re so thankful for all of them…and everyone who has stood with these families and the hospital since then!”

Over the past three days, dozens of grateful families lined up – virtually – to share how much they appreciate the care they’ve received from the Alberta Children’s Hospital and highlighted in very real terms how donations help save and change lives at the hospital every day.

“We’ve always known we have the best listeners,” says Greg Johnson, Program Director, Country 105 FM. “And with such a tremendous response to our 20th Caring for Kids Radiothon, it’s clear, we have the most generous, too. It’s amazing that they step up in a big way to help kids and families – and so rewarding that every year, we do it together.”

The official phone bank sponsor of this year’s event – for the 13th year in a row – was Brookfield Residential.
