Children’s Hospital Lottery is Back to Change Lives

You can help save and change a life through the Children’s Hospital Lottery

When one-year-old Eliana was found barely responsive in her crib, her parents rushed her to the Emergency Department at the Alberta Children’s Hospital.

She was admitted to the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit with a high fever and seizures. Doctors placed her in an induced coma to give her brain time to heal.

During her care, donor-funded equipment played a vital role. A Vein Viewer — a device that uses light to show veins beneath the skin — helped nurses quickly place IVs when every second counted, ensuring Eliana received critical medications without delay.

After weeks of intensive care and rehabilitation, Eliana went home. Today, she is a thriving three-year-old and surrounded by possibility.

Proceeds from this year’s lottery will help fund additional Vein Viewers, making it easier and more comfortable for children to receive the IV medications they need — especially when every minute matters.

“The Kinsmen Club of the Stampede City has been a cherished part of our hospital’s story for generations, and through the Children’s Hospital Lottery, they continue to help shape its future,” says Liz Ballendine, VP Development, Alberta Children’s Hospital Foundation. “We are deeply grateful to the Kinsmen Club — and to every person who purchases a lottery ticket — for their unwavering generosity and commitment to the children and families in our community.”
