Your time is one of the most valuable gifts you can give. The Alberta Children’s Hospital Foundation is grateful to work with a wide range of caring individuals who volunteer at our special events and in our office so that together, we can raise the most funds possible to advance child health.

What volunteer positions are available at the Alberta Children's Hospital Foundation?

Volunteers are an important part of the Foundation family and are vital to the success of our mission to support kids and families and enhance child health and wellness. You may find yourself selling 50/50 tickets, providing operational support, and so much more. Our volunteers become ambassadors for the Foundation in the community, and the time and energy you invest are so greatly appreciated.

What can I expect once I return my volunteer application form?

You will be contacted to complete a Police Information Check. All volunteers require a police check, a process that can take up to three weeks to complete. Please note, you are responsible for obtaining the police check and paying the associated fee.

What are the next steps after my police information check has been completed and sent to the Volunteer Coordinator

Once the Foundation receives your police check, you will be sent a Volunteer Handbook, our Code of Conduct, and other policy documents that we ask you to read, sign and return.

How are volunteer opportunities communicated to people?

Once the Volunteer Handbook and other forms are returned, you will officially be added to the Volunteer Call-Out list! Information about each upcoming volunteer opportunity is emailed to the Call-Out list — you simply respond to the ones that interest you!

How much time will I be required to commit as a volunteer?

Volunteers are an important part of so many events and fundraising activities and, on occasion, in our office with general office duties or event preparation.

There is no minimum hourly commitment with the Foundation and volunteer needs vary on an as-needed basis.

What kind of training/orientation will I receive?

All volunteers receive general orientation about the Alberta Children’s Hospital Foundation, an orientation on the nature and operation of the program or activity for which they have volunteered, and a specific orientation on the purpose and requirements of the position.

First-time volunteers will be partnered with another volunteer or a Foundation staff member!
